Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) tests are performed on the transformer’s cooling and insulating oil.

Over time a working transformer’s solid insulating materials will break down and liberate gas into the transformer oil. These gasses can give us an understanding of the health of the transformer. DGA results point to:

• The current state of the insulating materials

• Future or existing fault conditions

• The remaining life of the transformer
